The importance & beauty of teamwork

I joined the team at Wespro just over a year ago after starting my career as a financial advisor 13 years ago. Over that time, I have worked in two very different businesses and learned lots of positive and sometimes less helpful things. With all teams that function around us we see the ones that don’t function well and the way it affects us. Hence, I would like to look at the importance of teamwork and the benefits that are available to all the various parties when a team functions well.

Reflecting on my 12 months within the team at Wespro I am glad to say that I am part of a smoothly run and well-structured team. Wespro has a very high regard for compliance and for doing things accurately and according to the Regulator; and this is the responsibility of each team member but is championed by the office manager who does an excellent job and plays to her strengths. We also have very strong administrative support that again functions well to assist the financial advisors and ultimately this results in an effective, friendly, and professional service for our clients. As in all teams the captain or senior leader is vital to enable the team members to reach their potential and in Willie Jordaan, we have just the person.

In addition, we have included the help of Fundhouse +/- 4 years ago to assist us managing clients’ funds. They are doing an amazing job and have truly strengthened our team. Investment returns over the last couple of years have not been ideal and this is in direct relation to the state of our country and the world economy. I am personally so reassured that we have some of the best investment focussed minds in the country on our team to ensure that we try our best to get real returns for clients in very difficult times.

I am also struck by the range of careers, businesses, and expertise our clients have. We truly have various industry and market leaders as clients and of course our clients are another part of this team. Our clients trust Wespro with an important element of their lives and that enables them to focus on what they are good at and play to their strengths. One of our clients is a ‘Strength Finders Consultant’ and having gone through the consultation process with him it is clear to me the importance that we all need to play to our strengths. Please continue to entrust us with the various financial products that we assist you with so that you can play to your strengths as well.

Like any team or relationship open communication is vital. If you have a concern or feel your expectations are not being met, please know that you can reach out to us at any time. We will then sit together and openly discuss any issues to come to a resolution and move forward together.

A final point I want to highlight is the great relationship Wespro has with the product providers we work with; for a team to function optimally trust and a good relationship is essential. Numerous times this year it was evident to me that size does matter - being a bigger brokerage results in better service.
Like any sports team it is a joy to watch when a team is playing well. For that to happen each player needs to understand their strengths and responsibilities. Then the captain must take charge and ensure every individual is functioning to his or her strengths.

So as the year draws to a close, we would like to thank you for entrusting us with such an important part of your lives and for being part of the Wespro team.
